Kelsea Ballerini’s exes Chase Stokes and Morgan Evans clash publicly

The 32-year-old country singer’s ex-boyfriend, actor Chase Stokes, spoke out in defense of the “Cowboys Cry Too” singer after her ex-husband Morgan Evans spoke about their divorce on Bobby Bones’ podcast:Bobby Actor“

“This is about the most pathetic excuse for masculinity I’ve ever seen. Have a damn life,” Stokes wrote under an Instagram post that included a clip from the podcast, in a comment that has since been deleted.

Bones was shared later screenshot of deleted comment on Instagram as part of a video in which he defended Evans. The host emphasized that Evans had not spoken publicly about her divorce, saying on the podcast that “I thought she did really well” and that “she was very gracious in her description and her own version of events.”

In response to the criticism, Evans posted a series of photos on her account. instagram “Feeling pretty masculine today,” he captions the post, while doing stereotypically male activities like carrying a heavy mini-fridge and chopping wood.

Even Bones chimed in, writing in the comments section, “I laughed.”

Following the back and forth between her two exes, Ballerini wrote on her Instagram story on Friday, “So maybe a fuck break for the lady?” He put in his two cents by posting a meme that read:

On Bones’ podcast, Evans said it was unexpected to hear that Ballerini wanted a divorce.

“I wasn’t expecting this conversation, no,” he said. “Maybe it was naive of me, but I definitely wasn’t. It surprised me. This whole time is such a blur. From where I’m sitting right now, it feels like it’s someone else. I just look back and go, ‘Oh my God.'”

Evans and Ballerini were married for nearly five years before announcing in August 2022 that she was filing for divorce. Following their divorce, Ballerini released a six-song EP titled “Rolling Up the Welcome Mat” in February 2023, which she confirmed was about her separation from Evans.

Ballerini began dating the “Outer Banks” star shortly after her divorce from Evans, and she and Stokes made their red carpet debut together at the CMT Music Awards in April 2023.

The two broke up in September 2025 before briefly reconciling in December 2025.

“It looked a lot more dramatic than it was. And that was quite a learning lesson for us,” he said. Fun Tonight about their reconciliation.

“But he – I love him so much. We’ve been together a long time and we’ve lived so much life together. I love love and I believe in it. I’m also a big believer in finding the things that make you happy, finding the things you want to work on and figuring out how to make that work when the rubber meets the road.”
