Murder charge after man dies following a one punch attack

A man has been charged with murder following a fatal one-punch attack.
Police allege a 62-year-old man lost consciousness, fell and hit his head on the pavement along Hay St in Perth’s CBD when he was attacked about 11.05pm on Friday.
Medical teams took the man to hospital in critical condition, but he later died.
A 37-year-old Scarborough man is accused of hitting the victim and stealing her property before running away.
Police allege the Scarborough man was also involved in another incident where he stole property from a 41-year-old man about three hours earlier.
The defendant is accused of murder, serious injury, aggravated robbery, theft and benefiting from fraud.
He was remanded in custody and will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on March 27.

The charge comes weeks after Brodie Dewar, 20, was charged with manslaughter following an alleged one-punch attack on Labor’s Tim Picton.
Mr Picton was allegedly knocked unconscious in a one-punch attack outside a Perth nightclub in the early hours of December 27 last year. He died from his injuries in the hospital about three weeks later.
Mr Dewar was also charged with assault causing bodily harm for a similar one-punch attack which allegedly occurred outside a bar in Kalamunda days earlier.
Mr Dewar has been released on bail while his case continues in the courts.
