The Pentagon on Monday identified the seventh U.S. soldier killed in the Iran war as 26-year-old Army Sgt. Benjamin Pennington.

Pennington, who lives in Glendale, Kentucky, was seriously injured in an Iranian attack on March 1. Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

He died from his injuries on Sunday, according to the Ministry of Defense.

“I just want to say this: If you’re a prayer person, and I certainly am, I hope you’ll pray for the six souls we’ve lost, the seventh soul that’s coming home tonight, and all the families, you know better than almost any other category of Americans what it means to wear a uniform and sacrifice for our country,” Vance said. he said.

“And I hope you will share a moment of prayer for our brothers and comrades in arms who keep this country safe in their own way, just as you keep the country safe in your own ways,” the vice president said.

The other six U.S. soldiers killed during the war are identified as: U.S. Army Reserve Sgt. Declan Coady; Captain Cody Khork; Sergeant. 1st Class Nicole Amor; Sergeant. 1st Class Noah Tietjens; Major Jeffrey O’Brien; and U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Marzan.
