Parliament Budget session LIVE: Opposition tries to raise SIR in Rajya Sabha, walks out after brief protests

Congress MP K. Suresh: If the House functions smoothly, we will not move a no-confidence motion against the Speaker
Congress MP K. Suresh said today that if the House “functions smoothly”, the Opposition will move a resolution to move a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Mr. Suresh, one of the three Congress MPs scheduled to introduce the resolution, stated that they could not do so on Monday, March 9, 2026, as the Lower House “could not function” due to frequent adjournments.
“If the Parliament works smoothly, we will move that motion today. The Parliament was not working yesterday,” he said.
118 Opposition MPs signed the motion, alleging that the Speaker was acting “partisanly” following the allegation that Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi was not allowed to address the House.
