‘Aapne sikhaya farz sabse aage hai’: Rinku Singh writes emotional note for late father after T20 World Cup win
In a post on Instagram, Rinku Singh remembered his father and wrote how difficult it was to stay away from him during the tournament.
“Aapse baat kiye bina itne din kabhi nahi nikale. Mujhe nahi pata aage ki zindagi aapke bina kaise chalegi… par mujhe har kadam par aapki zaroorat padegi. Aapne sikhaya tha ki farz sabse aage hai.. toh field par bas aapka sapna Poora karne ki koshish kar raha tha. Ab aapka sapna pura ho gaya hai…. toh bas yahi lagta hai ki kash aap mere paas hote. I wish you were with me. Your presence will be missed in every small or small happiness, I will miss you so much dad),” Rinku wrote.
The message came after India clinched the T20 World Cup title.
Rinku Singh’s father died during World Cup campaign
Rinku’s father Khanchand Singh passed away at a hospital in Greater Noida after battling stage four cancer. He passed away Friday morning.
His funeral took place in Aligarh, where many people gathered to pay their respects. Rinku also carried her father’s body to the crematorium during the funeral.
Rinku left the team briefly to be with her family
During the tournament, Rinku had returned home after her father’s health deteriorated. This happened after India’s first Super 8 match against South Africa. He later rejoined the Indian team in Chennai ahead of their match against Zimbabwe on Thursday. India won that match and after the match, the news of his father’s death emerged.
Rinku played a limited role with the bat in the World Cup. The middle-order batsman often came to the crease as there were very few balls left in the innings.
He scored 24 runs in five innings and remained unbeaten twice with a best score of 11*.
In T20 Internationals this year, the left-hander scored 115 in eight innings in 10 matches. His average is 28.75 and his strike rate is 132.18, with his best score being 44*.
