Strike looms large at ABC as staff vote for protected action

The threat of a strike at the ABC looms larger than ever, with staff voting in favor of protected industrial action and largely rejecting a $1,000 pay offer from management as negotiations over a new collective bargaining agreement remain stalled.
Crikey has seen a message to members of the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance about voting on whether ABC staff should take protected action – which could include union action up to strikes during enterprise bargaining negotiations – and states that more than 90% of voters approved all proposed actions.
