‘Total shock’: Gympie woman finally claims $585k Gold Lotto prize after forgetting to check ticket
A Queensland woman has finally stepped forward to claim a life-changing lottery prize after learning she had been waiting for a $585,000 win for more than a week.
The Gympie resident had one of 11 division one winning entries nationwide in the Saturday Gold Lotto draw number 4655 drawn on February 28, with each entry worth $585,849.02.
But she had no idea she had won until she returned from leave the next weekend and checked her tickets.
The woman described the win as a huge surprise and “so wonderful.”
“I don’t normally win anything; absolutely nothing,” he said.
“I didn’t know about the win until Sunday. I usually buy a whole week and then check on Sunday morning, but I was away last weekend and forgot about them.”
“I’m in complete shock.”
The woman said this unexpected opportunity came at the perfect moment after recently moving to a new home.
“It needs some renovations. It’s the perfect timing,” he explained.

Store owner Sam Bamrah said the team was looking forward to the mystery winner being revealed.

11 division one winning entries were recorded nationwide in Saturday’s Gold Lotto 4655 draw; four of these were in Victoria, two in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia, and one in NSW.
