Australia’s fossil-fuelled data centre moment has arrived

America’s data center boom is powered by fossil fuels. I don’t just mean that new demand on the electric grid will absorb coal and gas power. I mean, they’re literally plugged directly into shiny new power plants burning petajoules of methane. Pumping out air pollution to suffocate society and pumping out greenhouse gases to materially overheat the Earth’s life support systems, all to power the rise of prolific digital bloat that not a single soul on Earth wants.
