Kodikunnil Suresh complains to Lok Sabha Speaker. Parliamentary Privilege & Ethics Committee over protocol violation

MP Kodikunnil Suresh has filed a formal complaint with Lok Sabha Speaker and Lok Sabha Privilege and Ethics Committee chairman Om Birla, alleging a serious breach of protocol in connection with the groundbreaking ceremony of the 50 MW floating solar project at West Kallada in Kollam. The project, implemented by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), falls under the Mavelikkara Parliamentary constituency represented by Kodikunnil Suresh.

However, the MP said that he was not given any prior information or invitation regarding the groundbreaking ceremony held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conference on March 11.

In his complaint, Kodikunnil Suresh pointed out that excluding the current Member of Parliament for the said constituency from such an important official government post amounted to a serious breach of established protocol and parliamentary conventions. Mr. Suresh requested the Lok Sabha Speaker and Ethics Committee to look into the matter and take appropriate action against the officials responsible for the statute of limitations and issue necessary directions to ensure that the required protocol and conventions of Parliament are strictly followed in future government programs involving Members of Parliament.
