Shoppers were surprised to find they were treated like royalty while shopping at the London market.
The Prince and Princess of Wales lent a helping hand behind the counter when they met local traders in the Borough.
On their visit to London, the couple enjoyed the buzz of stalls and craft breweries on Bermondsey’s Beer Mile before meeting teams protecting people on the River Thames.
Wandering around the Borough’s stalls filled with fresh produce and handmade treats, Prince William and Catherine chatted to traders about their business and what makes the historic market such a favorite with locals and tourists alike. Stall owner Todd Trethowan proudly showed the pair his selection of cheeses, giving them a taste of the passion for the products on sale.
There was also a fun moment during the visit when Catherine got behind the counter at a cafeteria and made a cappuccino for William, prompting smiles and laughter from nearby merchants and shoppers.
The Princess then headed to the Bermondsey Beer Mile to visit Southwark Brewing Company, part of the region’s thriving independent brewing scene. While touring the brewery, he met the team behind the operation and learned more about how their beers are made. Catherine even kept to herself, stirring the brewery kettle and chatting with the staff about the brewing process.
The day ended at the RNLI Tower Lifeboat Station on the banks of the River Thames. There the Prince and Princess met the crew of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and learned about their lifesaving work on the busy river. The visit also marks 25 years of RNLI lifeboats, celebrating the volunteers who help keep people safe on Britain’s waterways.
