Rideshare driver arrested for sexual assault as police seek victims

A 43-year-old rideshare driver was arrested and charged with kidnapping and multiple counts of sexual assault and kidnapping, prompting authorities to search for additional possible victims.
Felipe Rico-Ceballos, of Ontario, California, was taken into custody on March 5 in connection with the alleged assault on February 27. Costa Mesa Police Department.
Investigators said Rico-Ceballos offered to help an intoxicated woman get home. Instead, he allegedly drove her to another location where the attack took place before dropping her off elsewhere.
“We are working to identify other potential victims of a man arrested for sexually assaulting a rideshare passenger,” the Costa Mesa Police Department said in a Facebook statement Wednesday. The statement was included. “During the investigation, it was determined that Rico-Ceballos worked for a ride-sharing company. Due to the nature of his business, detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying additional potential victims of Rico-Ceballos.”

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office filed formal charges against Rico-Ceballos.
