The Murdochs on Netflix, Rupert’s legacy looks safe

Many people will probably watch Netflix’s lively, gossipy series Dynasty: The Murdochs and I feel like the Murdoch media empire, and especially its patriarch Rupert, is off the hook.
The four-part series does its best to cover some of the greatest horrors perpetrated by News Corp’s publications and broadcasters, and pleasingly features long-time Australian Murdoch observers such as Paul Barry, Walter Marsh, Paddy Manning and Richard Cooke. But it’s a Bad newsIt’s a genre narrative of just how malevolent the influence of a media empire is—it’s a show, first and foremost, about a massive business enterprise and the personalities and family dynamics that will ultimately determine its future.
