Trump says Iran will be hit ‘very hard’ this week as US campaign intensifies

President Donald Trump has announced further plans for war with Iran, vowing to continue to “destroy” the regime in the coming days and suggesting the mission is “ahead of schedule.”

“We didn’t realize it would be this far ahead. We destroyed almost 90% of their missiles,” Trump said in a televised interview Friday. “The Brian Kilmeade Show.”

The US has eliminated most of Iran’s missile and drone production facilities, the president said, adding that the military has “hit them harder than anything hit them since World War II.”

While Trump did not offer a specific timeline for the conclusion of the “trip,” he said the United States has “virtually unlimited ammunition.”

The president also said the United States is ready to escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz if necessary to protect oil shipments. The Iranian Navy claimed responsibility for a series of attacks on commercial ships passing through the strait.

The outages caused oil prices to rise. Trump said the US would escort the ships “if necessary” and added that pressure on Iran would increase this week.

“We’ve already done so much damage it would take years for them to rebuild,” Trump said, adding: “And we’re going to hit them hard next week.”

The military operation has already resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iranian authorities have chosen his son Mojtaba Khamenei as the next religious leader. Trump criticized the decision in his statements this week.

The new supreme leader issued a statement on Thursday promising that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until the war is over and warning neighboring countries that US military bases must be removed.

In a post on Truth Social Friday, Trump touched on further upcoming actions, writing: “Iran’s Navy is gone, its Air Force is no more, missiles, drones, and everything else are being destroyed, and its leaders have been wiped off the face of the earth.”

He continued: “We have unmatched firepower, unlimited ammunition, and plenty of time – Watch what happens to these unstable bastards today.”

The United States and Israel launched Operation Epic Rage following the failure of nuclear negotiations with Tehran; This was a move that Trump cited as justification for the military campaign.
