Search underway for prison escapee in Broken Hill, NSW

Police are desperately searching for a prisoner who escaped from a regional prison in NSW.

Bruce Smith, 24, was last seen at Broken Hill correctional facility around 2pm on Saturday.

He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, with a slim build, light brown skin and black hair.

Mr Smith was last seen wearing prison green and white sneakers.

“Anyone who sees Bruce is asked not to approach him but to contact Triple Zero (000) immediately,” a NSW Police spokesman said.

“Anyone with information on Bruce’s whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or – 000 in emergencies.

“The information is treated as strictly confidential. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.”
