Prof. Anuradha Tadakamalla Takes Charge as In-Charge VC of University of Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Taking over as the responsible Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad, Prof. Anuradha Jonnalagadda Tadakamalla promised to ensure smooth functioning of the university until a permanent replacement is appointed. “I will work for the smooth flow of college, even if it means putting my performances and personal life aside,” he said.
A senior professor with more than 30 years of academic and artistic experience, Prof. Anuradha has been associated with the university since the early years of her career. She said no female professor from the university had previously served as Vice-Chancellor and many of her colleagues welcomed her taking on the interim role.
He said that as the VC in charge, his focus will be on administrative procedures and responsibilities while ensuring continuity in academic and institutional work. “I see this as a way to give back to the institution and help with a smooth transition until the new vice chancellor takes office,” he said.
Prof. Anuradha is the head of the dance department at Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication. His academic expertise includes the socio-cultural history, performance and pedagogy of Kuchipudi dance.
He completed his doctorate in dance at the University of Hyderabad in 1996 with his thesis on traditions and innovations in Kuchipudi dance. He also holds a master’s degree in Performing Arts from UoH and a bachelor’s degree from Osmania University.
Prof. Anuradha has authored and edited many publications on dance history and Kuchipudi, mentored 11 doctoral students and advises many research students. He has also served as a resource person in institutions such as Sangeet Natak Akademi and has been associated with academic committees of many universities.
The process of appointing the Vice-Chancellor is ongoing with the Union education ministry already inviting applications for the post.
