Naidu to unveil 58-foot statue of Potti Sriramulu in Amaravati on March 16

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the statue of Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu in Amaravati on Monday as part of the freedom fighter’s 125th birth anniversary celebrations.
According to officials, the Prime Minister will unveil the 58-metre bronze statue of Potti Sriramulu at Shakhamuru Park in Amaravati at 11.15 am. The statue was installed as part of a commemorative project developed on 6.80 acres of land at an estimated cost of ₹150 crore.
The first phase of the project has been completed with the Potti Sriramulu Memorial Trust completing the construction of the statue in a record time of six months. Approximately 26 tons of bronze and 42 tons of iron were used in the construction of the statue.
Authorities plan to build a museum, photo gallery, auditorium and skill development center in the memorial complex in the second phase.
The memorial is being developed to commemorate the sacrifice of Potti Sriramulu, who demanded a separate state for the Telugu people and started a 58-day death fast that eventually led to the creation of Andhra State.
Later in the evening, the Chief Minister will travel to Vijayawada and attend the iftar dinner organized by the state government at 5.40 pm on the occasion of the holy month of Ramzan. He will convey his greetings to members of the Muslim community during the event.
