Food Safety Squad Raids Medchal Water Packaging Unit

Hyderabad:A flight crew of the food safety department in Telangana inspected a packaged drinking water unit in Medchal-Malkajgiri district and found expired chemicals in its laboratory. Officials reported several violations of food safety standards, including the operator operating the unit with an expired license failing to produce a valid Food Safety and Standards Authority of India licence. The unit also supplied bottled water to restaurants using expired or invalid license numbers.

The audit revealed that the quality control laboratory was non-functional, with expired chemicals present and no reagents for testing. There were no qualified technicians at the facility. Food handlers did not have medical certifications and the preparation area was poorly maintained, with some equipment not working.

Authorities collected legal samples for laboratory analysis and seized stocks of packaged drinking water worth Rs. 55,800. Proceedings will be initiated against the operator within the scope of the Food Safety and Standards Law.

Chain thief caught in Kukatpally

A man was arrested within 24 hours for allegedly snatching a gold chain from a doctor near a mall in Kukatpally. The alleged theft occurred around 6pm on Saturday and was detected on Sunday.

Police said the complainant, Dr Nandipalli Kiran, 40, of Bachupally, was walking towards the mall when the accused Munuparthi Satish, 41, a carpenter from Moosapet, approached on a scooter, threatened her and snatched a gold chain weighing 24 grams worth about $25,000 before running away. Based on the complaint, Kukatpally police registered a case at 9.20 pm on March 14, launched an investigation and arrested the accused.

Female drug family loots her house in Balanagar

A woman, who was given shelter by a family in Balanagar, allegedly drugged residents and along with her accomplices robbed them of gold and silver ornaments worth Rs. 50 lakhs. While the police arrested four people within 24 hours, one suspect is still at large.

According to Balanagar ACP Naresh Reddy, the accused, 35-year-old Cherukupalli Lakshmi Sarvani, a distant relative, approached Yarramilli Hima Bindu of AdarshnNagar, claiming that she was facing financial distress. The family understood and allowed him to stay.

Sarvani then hatched a plan to burgle the house, police said. On March 13, he allegedly sedated the residents, causing them to lose consciousness, and then called his accomplices – 30-year-old Parvatham Kiran Kumar, 19-year-old Konaparthi Yashwanth, 23-year-old Bharadi Dileep and Shiva. Together they looted the jewels before escaping.

Following a complaint, police reviewed CCTV footage, analyzed technical evidence, including cell tower data, and carried out field investigations. Acting on clues, they arrested Sarvani along with Kiran Kumar, Yashwanth and Dileep on Saturday. Shiva is released.

The valuables recovered include 30 tolas of gold, 2.3 kilograms of silver and four mobile phones worth around Rs. 50 lakhs.

Nepalese workers escape with valuables

Two Nepali domestic workers allegedly escaped from a house in Jubilee Hills with gold and diamond jewelery worth Rs 2 crore on Sunday. The couple who had just joined the house disappeared with their valuable belongings. A similar robbery was reported in the same area about a month ago; A housemaid had tied up an elderly couple and stolen their valuables.

The residents were identified as Anirudh Reddy and Depika Reddy, residents of a house on Road No. 25. The complaint stated that 32-year-old Mahesh Shahi and his wife Apshara Shahi, two Nepalese citizens, joined the household about 45 days ago. While Mahesh was tasked with gardening, Apshara managed the household chores like arranging clothes, dusting and feeding the pet dog.

While both workers stayed in a room inside the residence, the other staff worked during the day and returned home in the evening. About a week ago, employers informed the staff that they would be visiting their other homes in Thonoor, Ooty, for work. Anirudh left two days ago and Depika left on March 13.

Suspicion was raised on Saturday morning when a neighbor noticed that the outside area had not been cleaned. During the examination, it was determined that the cabinets inside the house were broken open using an iron rod, hammer and knife. Gold and diamond ornaments worth approximately Rs. 2 crore was missing. After further verification, it was found that both Mahesh and Apshara had absconded.

A case has been registered and further investigation is on.

WhatsApp Line Turns Deadly: AR Constable Stabbed to Death by Friend in Uppal

An Armed Reserve (AR) police constable was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend following an argument near Chilukanagar in Uppal between 8pm and 8.15pm on Sunday. The victim was identified as 30-year-old Sudheer Reddy, serving with City Security Wing (CSW) and resident of RTC Colony in Chengicherla.

According to the information obtained, it was claimed that Sudheer had an argument with his friend over a WhatsApp message. As the argument escalated, it was learned that the suspect attacked him with a knife. It was reported that the suspect fled the scene on a bicycle with a colleague.

On receiving information, Uppal police rushed to the spot and started an investigation along with the Clues team. The body was taken to Gandhi morgue for autopsy. While the police were investigating the cause of the attack, they also started looking for the suspect.

Mother Allegedly Killed Her 14-Month-Old Daughter Due to Marital Dispute in Golconda

A 14-month-old baby was allegedly murdered by his mother at their home in Risala Bazaar in Golconda on Sunday afternoon. Golconda inspector P. Saidulu said that mother Ghausiya Begum had been having marital problems with her husband Amir Ali for about a year.

Police said the couple, who got married in January 2023, discussed divorce due to frequent disagreements. Amir Ali reportedly refused to proceed with the divorce, citing concerns about his daughters’ future.

Ghausiya Begum allegedly strangled the child at her home on Sunday afternoon. At around 16.43, she called her husband, who was near Charminar for work, and informed him of the incident. Emir Ali immediately informed the police. A team from Golconda police station came to the house and detained the woman.
