Trump blasts US media over Iran war reporting

US President Donald Trump accused media organizations of providing false information about the war in Iran.
Trump accused the media of spreading fake images and videos created by Iran using artificial intelligence.
“Artificial intelligence can be very dangerous, we have to be very careful about it,” Trump told Air Force One reporters shortly after accusing Western media outlets, which have no evidence of “close collaboration” with Iran, of spreading “fake news” generated by artificial intelligence on the Truth Social platform.
“Artificial intelligence has become another weapon of Disinformation that Iran uses quite well, given that it is being destroyed by the day,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“The truth is that much of Iran is being destroyed and the only wars they are ‘winning’ are the ones they are creating through AI and distributed by Corrupt Media Organizations,” he added.
“The Radical Left Press knows this very well but continues to advance with false stories and LIES.”
Trump has frequently accused media organizations that publish news that he thinks are critical of him of lying, and has previously called for the removal of the licenses of media outlets that he thinks are unfair.
Between his social media post and comments to reporters, Trump cited three examples Sunday where he claimed Iran was using artificial intelligence to mislead the public.
He said on Truth Social that Iran was showing non-existent “kamikaze boats.”
He also noted that Iran used artificial intelligence to falsely portray a successful attack on the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, adding that publications that spread the news should be charged with treason.
Reuters has confirmed footage taken from the Iraqi port of Basra showing Iranian boats loaded with explosives attacking two fuel tankers, killing at least one crew member.
Iranian state media claimed that the Iranian military shot down the USS Abraham Lincoln, but this claim was not widely covered by Western outlets.
Trump also claimed that images showing “250,000” Iranians at a rally in support of new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei were “entirely AI-generated” and that the event “never happened.”
Trump said he was “so excited” that Federal Communications Commission chairman Brendan Carr was reviewing news organizations’ broadcast licenses.
On Saturday, Carr threatened that the licenses could be revoked.
“Publishers publishing distorted news, also known as fake news and fake news, now have a chance to correct course before license renewals arrive,” Carr wrote to X.
“The law is clear. Broadcasters must operate in the public interest and if they fail to do so they will lose their licences.”
Trump has repeatedly accused the press of bias and unfair reporting.
He has also spread false claims and AI-generated content in the past, including promoting his vision for the future of the Gaza Strip and a racist video depicting former president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle as monkeys.
