Lloyds Bank closing 8 branches in May – full list | UK | News

Lloyds Bank will close eight branches across the UK in May as part of the banking group’s closure campaign. At least 168 branches of Lloyds Banking Group will close in 2026 and 2027, after the group announced on 11 February that an additional 95 branches would close across Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland.

Four of May’s eight branches – Bournemouth, Redhill, London Streatham and London Victoria – were among the announcement. Customers in Croydon may be pleased to hear that a branch will be moving to Centrale Shopping Center as it closes in May. Lloyds blamed the closures on changing customer habits; the majority now bank online.

More than 21 million customers use Lloyds apps as their main way of banking, a spokesman said.

They added: “Customers want the freedom to bank at their convenience, and we offer more options and ways to manage money than ever before.”

Critics said the bank closures would affect the most vulnerable people who may not have access to online banking or travel to other bank branches.

The group said customers would still be able to access face-to-face banking services across any of its brands, including Halifax and Bank of Scotland. They will be able to deposit cash, withdraw money and pay by check.

Customers can also use banking centres, operated by the Post Office, which are communal areas where customers of more than one bank can deposit and withdraw cash, receive face-to-face support and manage their accounts.

As of February, 214 centers were in operation across the UK, with 58 additional centers recommended.

As part of Lloyd’s announcement in February, 53 Lloyds, 31 Halifax and 11 Bank of Scotland sites were given closing dates from May this year to March 2027.
