Trump drops jaws by revealing Republican’s ‘terminal diagnosis’ in course of Kennedy Center press conference

President Donald Trump visibly shocked House Speaker Mike Johnson and others Monday by revealing private medical information about a House Republican as television cameras broadcast the scene.
Trump was speaking during an impromptu press conference; Here he was expected to ask a few questions about the incident. ongoing Iranian War — before a scheduled lunch with Kennedy Center board members, when he began praising how House Speaker Mike Johnson had managed to keep his majority together despite having only a two-vote margin since the beginning of the year.
Sitting between Johnson and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, who Trump previously revealed was battling early-stage breast cancer, he asked the House Speaker about a “very sick” GOP member. Johnson called Florida Rep. Neal Dunn a “true champion and patriot,” saying he still has “real health issues” and a “pretty scary diagnosis” while coming to work and going to vote.
Trump then intervened to ask about Dunn’s diagnosis, unprompted and announcing that it was a “terminal diagnosis.”
“He’ll be dead by June,” Trump said, prompting Johnson to step back, with some surprise.

“Okay, this wasn’t public,” Johnson said.
Johnson added that Trump contacted Dunn to express his condolences and later arranged for him to receive medical treatment from White House Medical Unit doctors and other military doctors at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
“The guy has a new life. He acts like he’s 30 years younger, he walked into the conference meeting and we thought we saw a ghost, I spoke to him over the weekend, he was encouraged and thankful, and he thanked the President for his leadership and intervention,” Johnson said.
Trump re-entered the conversation, explaining that Johnson had told him Dunn was a “mortal” who was “really mean-spirited” and stated that there was “nothing they could do” for the longtime Florida representative.
“I realized I have doctors in the White House… Doctors in the White House are incredible, and they’ve helped me with other people. They’re helping me with people right now, very sick people… like they’re miracle workers. So I said I had to call them. And I called the two doctors, they’re both great. They immediately went to see the congressman, and two hours later he was on the operating table,” Trump said.
Earlier this year, Dunn said he would not seek re-election in Florida’s 2nd district. Last month, amid rumors that Dunn might resign early, his office said in a statement: Policy oo will serve for the full term of office.
Since January, Republicans had been operating with a nearly two-seat majority, with just 218 seats following the death of California Rep. Doug Lamalfa and the resignation of former Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Because Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) frequently voted against the House Republican leadership, Johnson often struggled to hold his conference together to pass party legislation or procedural rules needed to debate and pass bills without resorting to a fast-track procedure that requires two-thirds of the House to support a bill.
His margin actually narrowed earlier this month when California Rep. Kevin Kiley announced he was registering as an Independent, but Kiley said he would still caucus with the GOP and support Johnson’s leadership.
