Trump hits out at allies who rebuffed his calls for help to secure Strait of Hormuz; Israel continues to pound Iran and Lebanon
Trump lashed out at America’s allies who have turned down calls to send ships to help secure the Strait of Hormuz so oil shipments can continue.
“Some are very enthusiastic about this, some are not,” Trump said while taking questions in Washington today.
“Some of them are countries we’ve been helping for years. We’ve protected them from terrible external sources, and they weren’t that keen. And the level of enthusiasm is important to me.
“They said we’d rather not get involved in this, sir… I know we’ll protect them, and they won’t be there if we need help.”
Trump added: “We already took care of Iran” and called on other countries to “come and help us with the strait.”
