Telangana Sets 90 LMT Rabi Paddy Collection Target

Hyderabad: With projected paddy cultivation on 54.48 lakh acres yielding an estimated 152.03 lakh metric tonnes for Rabi, Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited has set an ambitious target of supplying 90 lakh metric tonnes, including 60 LMT coarse and 30 LMT fine, at the Minimum Support Price fixed by the government.
At the preparatory meeting for the Rabi season, civil supplies minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced a comprehensive action plan to achieve an ‘unprecedented’ paddy procurement target. To facilitate smooth, farmer-friendly operations, the government will set up 8,251 paddy procurement centers (PPCs), operated by IKP, PACS and others, equipped with modern vehicles, adequate storage, transportation and weather warning measures.
The Minister reiterated that the MSP rates fixed for the season are ₹2,389 per quintal for Class A and ₹2,369 per quintal for common variety. He emphasized that these rates will provide a significant increase in farmers’ income and serve as a safety net against market fluctuations. Officials have been instructed to arrange adequate vehicles in advance for smooth transportation of paddy from PPCs to rice mills.
Acknowledging the risk of unseasonal rainfall, the minister directed to use the Weather App to issue ‘warning notes’ and take precautionary measures to protect paddy stocks. As summer conditions intensify, farmers visiting PPCs are advised to rest in sheds or tents, while ORS bags will be available in all centers to prevent sunstroke. Collectors and additional collectors were instructed to personally visit each PPC and resolve any issues on the spot.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the entire exercise is aimed at preventing farmers from facing hardship.
