Five insurgents arrested near India-Myanmar border in Manipur

Five rebels were arrested near the India-Myanmar border in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district, police said on Tuesday (March 17, 2026).
The rebels were said to belong to PREPAK, Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) and Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL).
They added that the arrests were made on Sunday, March 15, 2026, in the area between Border Pillars 73 and 75 in the Moreh police station area.
In a separate operation, security forces seized explosives and small arms from the Boljang Hill Range in the region.
Police said the seized items included eight improvised explosive devices (IEDs), a pistol, a pistol magazine, an improvised mortar, two radio sets and nine live bullets of different calibers.
It was stated that the recovered IEDs were destroyed in the field in accordance with security protocols and standard operating procedures.
