HC orders removal of content linking Union Minister Hardeep Puri’s daughter to Jeffrey Epstein
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered removal of social media content linking Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri’s daughter with convicted American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein within 24 hours. Justice Mini Pushkarna also banned many users from publishing, distributing or distributing such content in any way on social media platforms.
The judge presiding over the case filed by Himayani Puri announced that if social media users do not remove the posts, the platforms will remove or block access to such content.
The court observed that Himayani Puri had a prima facie case in her favor and would suffer irreparable harm if interim relief was not granted.
“Consequently, the following orders will be issued by the next date of hearing,” the court said while listing the case for next hearing in August. he said.
Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, appearing for the plaintiff, said he had a “global reputation” as a financial professional that needed to be protected and the allegations against him were “completely false, reckless and malicious”.
Himayani Puri, in her lawsuit seeking Rs 10 billion in damages and an order to restrain various organizations from disseminating defamatory content, said there was a “coordinated and malicious online campaign” to link her to Epstein and his crimes.
It also demanded an unconditional apology and retraction from the defendant organizations.
“On or about 2/22/2026, a number of false, misleading and defamatory posts, articles, videos and digital materials were published, disseminated and amplified on social media and intermediary platforms, including X, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, digital news portals and other web-based publications, among others,” the defense said. The statement was included.
Himayani Puri claimed that she was a successful finance and investment professional and was targeted only because she was the daughter of the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
According to her lawsuit, the defendants made “baseless accusations” that Himayani Puri maintained direct or indirect business, financial or personal network connections with Epstein.
The defense stated that the allegations were completely false, malicious and devoid of factual basis.
The Epstein files consist of thousands of pages of documents, including travel records, recordings and emails, related to two criminal investigations into sex trafficking conducted by Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, which have been a topic of conversation since Epstein died in custody in 2019.
