Heavy rainfall batters Sydney overnight with more wet weather on the way

Heavy rains left parts of Sydney and the Central Coast under water overnight.

Mosman, on Sydney’s north shore, was torn apart by a 93mm explosion within 60 minutes of 3.03am, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

Pearl Beach Reservoir on the Central Coast fell to 64mm in an hour and in just 30 minutes Rose Bay (51mm) and Little Bay (44mm) in Sydney’s east were drenched, 51mm fell at Allambie on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and Wahroonga on Sydney’s upper north shore reached 42mm.

More rain is forecast in Sydney over the next few days, with up to 30mm forecast for Thursday.

The bureau said up to 15mm of rainfall was expected on Friday and showers would continue throughout the weekend, but “they are not expected to bring these severe weather effects”.
