As Britain rolls out the red carpet for the state visit of the Nigerian president, the Princess of Wales is set to play a prominent role today. King Charles and Queen Camilla will host Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his wife Oluremi Tinubu at Windsor Castle on a day expected to be full of grandeur and pageantry.
It is the first official visit by a leader of the West African country to the UK in 37 years and also the first official visit by a Muslim leader during Ramadan in almost a century. Princess Catherine will join her husband, Prince William, today and will greet the Nigerian President and his wife in the morning at the Fairmont Windsor Park, a luxury spa hotel on the edge of Windsor Great Park, and accompany them to the city center to officially meet the King and Camilla.
The royal family and their guests will then travel to the castle quadrangle in a carriage procession from Windsor, a traditional display of pomp and pageantry, where they will see the Guard of Honor for a ceremonial welcome. They will host a lavish banquet at Windsor Castle later in the day.
