New video shows NYC terror suspect tackled after allegedly throwing bomb at protest

New video shows the moment one of the terror suspects was pinned to the ground after allegedly throwing a homemade bomb during a protest in New York City.

Ibrahim Kayumi, 19, and Emir Balat, 18, of Newtown, Pennsylvania, are accused of throwing live explosives at a protest outside Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s Gracie Mansion on March 7 after traveling from Bucks County to Manhattan, according to federal authorities.

The new video shows Balat being attacked by an NYPD officer and Chief Aaron Edwards yelling “get him” nearby. After Balat was knocked to the ground, a person was heard shouting “bomb”.

In the criminal complaint, prosecutors said a series of photographs showed the men allegedly using the bomb, which was determined to contain TATP along with nuts and bolts held on with duct tape.

While meeting with law enforcement, Balat allegedly said he wanted the planned attack to be “bigger than the Boston Marathon bombing.”

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said homemade bombs are real and can cause serious injury or death, adding that the incident is being investigated as terrorism.

“This is being investigated as an ISIS-inspired terrorist act,” Tisch said.

According to federal prosecutors, Balat allegedly wrote and signed a pledge of allegiance to the Islamic State after he was taken to the police station.

Balat allegedly wrote, “All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the worlds! I swear allegiance to the Islamic State.” “We are taking precautions.”

The FBI said “explosive residue” was found during a search of a self-storage unit in connection with a terrorism investigation in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.
