Karimnagar: There was tension in Seethampeta village of Ellanthakunta mandal during the funeral of 32-year-old Divya, wife of Karimnagar Two Towns sub-inspector Chandrasekhar, who allegedly died after eating poisonous oleander seeds in Karimnagar district.
The incident took place on Tuesday at the couple’s house in Hanuman Nagar under Tek Town police limits, police said. Divya consumed the seeds and her condition worsened. The situation became tense on Wednesday, when his body reached his native village. Relatives alleged foul play, pointing to body injuries and citing domestic disputes as a factor.
As the tension escalated, Chandrasekhar and his brother took shelter in a room, and when his relatives demanded that he be taken out, the police used additional force to prevent tension.
However, the victim’s father filed a complaint with the One-Town police, stating that Divya died by suicide due to chronic stomach pain.
Police said the cause of death and the circumstances leading to the incident are being investigated.
