Two 24-hour Tube strikes next week called off

Two 24-hour strikes by London Underground drivers next week have been called off, the RMT union has announced, following progress in talks to resolve a dispute over working hours.
However, strikes called for April and May continue.
London’s Labor mayor, Sadiq Khan, described it as “positive news for Londoners, businesses and visitors”.

He added: “I am glad that the talks were constructive and both sides continue to work towards a solution.”
The RMT said its members had taken action as transport bosses pushed ahead with plans to compress a normal working week into four days, despite proposals rejected by the majority of train operators.
The union says its members have a number of concerns, including shift lengths and their potential impact on fatigue and safety.
Union members were scheduled to strike at noon on March 24 and 26.
Other planned strikes are still scheduled for April 21 and 23, and May 19 and 21.
This is breaking news, more to come…
