New York City’s city council could raise the minimum wage by up to $30, and Mayor Zohran Mamdani signaled during the campaign that he could make that a reality.
“Even though I wanted to pay $30, we don’t have the money,” Moe Chan, who owns a coffee and tea company in Queens, told the Journal.

“We feel like we’re at an inflection point for consumers,” said Melissa Fleischut, president of the New York State Restaurant Association.

Hayden said the minimum wage should be between $20 and $25 an hour. If the order goes beyond that, the restaurant will have to shut down a “dozen” servers while it uploads QR codes for customers to place orders on their phones.
“You take away the whole dining and hospitality element,” he told the Journal.
Mamdani’s office did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
