Ismail Baghaei, the official spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, described the statements made by the Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister at the Arab-Islamic countries summit as “unfair, one-sided and contrary to the requirements of a responsible approach to regional developments.”
“No side can ignore the obvious fact that the root cause of the current crisis in the region is the war imposed by America and the Zionist regime,” Baghaei said. Baghaei said, adding that these countries “use military bases and facilities located in regional countries to plan, execute and support their aggressive actions against Iran.”
Reiterating Iran’s position, Baghaei emphasized that Tehran reserves the right to defend itself within the framework of international law. “Under the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and international law, including General Assembly resolutions 2625 and 3334, no country shall be permitted to make its territory and facilities available to third parties for the purpose of military aggression against another country.” he said.
The spokesman also warned that countries hosting US military bases could face consequences if these facilities were used in attacks against Iran.
“America and the parties that aid or participate in the Zionist regime’s military attack on Iran are considered accomplices in the crimes committed.” he said. He also reiterated Iran’s commitment to international law and regional cooperation.
Expressing the adherence of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, especially the principle of good neighborliness and respect for the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries of the region, he expressed the hope that the countries of the region, with a logical, responsible and internationally harmonious approach, will prevent as soon as possible the misuse of their lands and facilities by America and the Zionist regime for the purpose of aggression against Iran, and will not allow the Zionist regime’s ambitions to create division and discord among Islamic countries. will be carried out.”
