TikTok star is spared jail for crashing her yellow Chevrolet Camaro at the end of a 90mph police chase hours after a friend phoned 999 saying she was worried she was suicidal

A TikTok star who caused ‘devastation’ on the roads by dangerously driving at 90mph in his bright yellow muscle car has escaped jail after a court heard his behavior was a ‘cry for help’.

Stunning Paige Brookes was driving her Chevrolet Coupe on the A34 in Stafford when police tried to stop her in the early hours of September 3.

Concerned about his state of mind, a friend had contacted police hours earlier to report that Brookes was suicidal and his whereabouts were unknown.

At one point during the ‘long’ chase, the mother-of-three called police and said she would crash their vehicle if they did not back off, but she refused to stop.

He accelerated before reaching Silkmore Lane, where he lost control at the junction and crashed into the guard rails. His car spun 180 degrees before coming to a stop.

Brookes, of Stafford, admitted dangerous driving and failing to stop for police officers at a hearing last month. Today, he was given a suspended prison sentence as well as a driving ban.

PC Groves, of Stafford local policing, previously said Brookes had ‘a complete disregard for his own safety and that of other road users’ and ‘wreaked havoc’.

Paige Brookes, a famous mother of three children who caused ‘damage’ on the roads by crashing into guardrails at high speed and not stopping for the police, was banned from driving.

Blonde-haired Brookes arrived at Cannock Magistrates Court on Friday and posed happily for a waiting photographer, wearing tinted pink sunglasses and a pinstriped gray suit.

Prosecutor Jason Dudhee said police found his car, which was spotted by ANPR cameras on the A34, at 2.15am after receiving a report that he was suicidal.

Mr Dudhee added: ‘Brookes called the call room and said he would crash if the officers did not back off and he refused to stop. The pursuit progressed towards the A513. A needle was deployed but he avoided it.

‘He reached speeds of 90 mph on the road. It was raining lightly at the time and the road was damp.

‘He drove at 50mph on a 30mph road and accelerated to 70mph while still in a 30mph zone. He continued driving at 50 miles per hour on Silkmore Lane.

‘He tried to turn right at a small junction but lost control and crashed into the roadside guardrail. This spun his car 180 degrees before coming to a stop.

‘He tried to continue driving but was unable to do so due to the front end of his vehicle.’

Mr Dudhee added that this was a “deliberately dangerous style of driving”.

Brookes, of Radford Bank in Stafford, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and failing to stop at the request of a police officer.

Chris Clark, mitigating, said Brookes had previously been of good character.

Mr Clark said: ‘Driving is inexcusable. It was careless, thoughtless, and gradually recognized as dangerous.

‘In his opinion, he was not driving at high speed throughout all parts of the journey. ‘The roads were clear at that time of the morning.’

He said Brookes had been traumatized for several years but did not seek solace in a bottle.

Mr Clark added: ‘A sobriety test was carried out at the scene and returned a reading of zero. He was in a very desperate situation that night. “It was a cry for help.”

The online star’s social media shows her posing with a variety of exotic or brightly colored vehicles, including a pink Range Rover Evoque Convertible, a lime green Lamborghini, a yellow Ford Mustang and a pink VW Golf GTI.

Brookes has 142,000 followers on TikTok and has created a six-figure business after leaving school with no qualifications at 13.

She shares her life and business achievements on TikTok in order to be as open and honest as possible and to encourage other young women to better themselves.

Videos on the platform show him using the Camaro to do his weekly groceries at Asda and sitting behind the wheel of the imported American coupe as he unpacks the Gucci shoulder bag he took with him to court today.

The TikTokker also posted a video addressing the police incident that landed him in court, telling his followers that he was in a ‘bad situation’ that day and was afraid to see the cops flagging him down, so he sped up.

‘This was the stupidest mistake of my life,’ he added.

Last year Brookes spoke to the BBC about growing up in the care system, starting her own business and opening a community events space.

He said: ‘Being able to drive up to Greggs in my Range Rover on my lunch break and put it in my little Gucci bag; All these little little things are (part of) a bigger picture.’

Magistrates sentenced Brookes to 24 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months. As well as being disqualified from driving for 12 months, he must complete 15 days of rehabilitation activity and 150 hours of unpaid work.

Brookes was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £154 surcharge.
