Rachel Reeves has just shown once again how out of touch she is | Politics | News

Rachel Reeves is as transparent as a cheap roll of plastic wrap. He thinks the answer to our stagnating economy, which he caused, is closer relations with the EU. And there’s a very good reason why he says this. Because he wants someone else to make all the big decisions about England, and then when it all goes wrong he can say in that annoying adenoid voice: “It’s not my fault, chief.”

Wrecker Reeves spent the last year blaming Brexit for every one of his failures. From his first day on the job, he always tried to blame his incompetence, his terrible mistakes, and his delegation of management of the economy to everyone but himself. At the Mais lecture at Bayes Business School in London (the idea that Rachel from Customer Accounts could give a lecture on finance is beyond ridiculous), he said it was “a strategic imperative for deeper integration between the UK and the EU, in line with our shared need for economic resilience”.

Doesn’t he understand that closer ties with the EU mean we have no say in our future? This is exactly why the majority of British people voted to leave the EU in 2016. We wanted to get rid of a bunch of unelected bureaucrats who didn’t care about the British people.

They just wanted our money and wanted to control us and now Reeves and Starmer are breaking their hearts to give it back to them. This is despite the fact that they try to humiliate us and score political points at every opportunity to “punish” us for daring to leave. But still Reeves desperately tries to run into their arms because he sees that his grand plan for Britain has failed badly and he has nowhere to go.

His capitulation to the EU is for no other reason than that he and Starmer are out of their depth and have no idea how to run a country. So they want to go back to the bad old days and let them and us be ruled and bullied by people who have less ideas than they do.

How many times over the past two years has Reeves boasted about his destroyed plan to revive our stagnating economy? How many times have we seen him belittled, humiliated and discredited for his disastrous decisions? Britain saw zero growth in January, and that’s entirely down to its kamikaze decisions.

So his solution to all this is to chain us to the EU once again. Which of all the stupid decisions he made is THE stupidest one because he must surely have realized that, as useless as Britain’s growth was, it was stronger and better than EU economies like France and Germany. And this trend is expected to continue in 2026.

So how do we grow faster and stronger with a bloc that grows slower than us?

Since coming to power this wet chancellor excuse has been lying about the black hole to justify increasing taxes. He betrayed us by robbing our retirees of their winter fuel allowances. It crammed farmers — the people who work long hours to put food on our tables.

The disastrous decision to increase National Insurance forced thousands of businesses into bankruptcy. Unemployment is at its highest level in the last decade at 5.3 percent. Inflation is higher than any other country in the G7 (he conveniently blames the war in Iran for this). The hospitality industry is on the brink and all Wrecker can do is blame Brexit and beg the EU to take us back.

The only useful thing he could do now would be to cancel the fuel tax increase coming in September. The government makes a whopping 38p profit on every liter of fuel purchased. So why not sacrifice a little of that to save the livelihoods of millions of hard-working Brits who will be hit hard by the escalating oil crisis?

If Reeves had listened to people who actually understood economics (what they knew could be written on the back of a fag packet) he would have had a chance at getting it right. But he ignored them; because Rachel from Accounts knows best.

It turned out not to be so. He knows nothing and is constantly exposed as knowing nothing, but it is the British public who pay the price for his incompetence. Even at this conference he boasts that the government has invested £2.5bn in AI; Absolutely no one cares right now. All they care about is paying their bills and putting food on the table. So why doesn’t he address this issue?

And for all his humiliations, for all his failures, Reeves still has the courage to insist publicly that his plan is working; But everyone here and around the world can see that this is not the case. But what’s most frightening is his chilling self-delusion. Red Ed Miliband has it too. They both believe that what they did was absolutely right, even when the evidence showed the opposite. But they still don’t accept it. That’s why they’re both so dangerous.

But of course, Reeves shrugs off all the criticism, saying that this only happened to her because she was a woman. No. He hits it on the neck because he is undoubtedly the worst chancellor in living memory – bar none! In any normal government he would have been kicked to the political curb months ago. But he’s part of a government full of idiots and failures, so there’s no one with even half a brain to replace him.

He said in a recent interview that people always underestimate him. Actually no, we didn’t. Even before Labor came to power we saw that it was hopeless. “When I was growing up, I was tired of being told that people from ordinary backgrounds couldn’t be successful,” he said in the same interview.

Yes, Reeves has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that it doesn’t matter what class people come from. If they’re delusional, egomaniacs (like him) they’re bound to screw things up.
