SI ends life four days after wife’s death in Karimnagar district

In a tragic turn of events, Deputy Superintendent of Police of two towns of Karimnagar, Chandrasekhar (36), allegedly ended his life, four days after the death of his wife Divya, allegedly by suicide, in her hometown Seethampeta village in Ellanthakunta mandal of Karimnagar district on Saturday. The couple’s deaths a few days apart left their two sons, ages 9 and 6, orphaned.

Divya (32) died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad late on Tuesday night. Police said he took this step due to excruciating stomach pain.

Sources said that Chandrasekhar arrived in Seethampeta on Saturday morning to participate in the post-death Divya ritual. He was reported to have died by hanging a short time later.

His body was transferred to the morgue of the government hospital in Jammikunta. A case was registered at Jammikunta police station. Further investigation is ongoing.

It may be noted that tension prevailed during Divya’s funeral in Seethampeta when some angry relatives allegedly locked Chandrasekhar in a room, suspecting ‘foul play’ behind his death; This accusation was reportedly denied by his father and other family members.
