Coldplay Kiss Cam exec slams Gwyneth Paltrow, Ryan Reynolds over ad

Cabot insisted Hollywood should have stayed out of the drama, instead running an ad for the company he used to work for.

“That was really disappointing to me,” Cabot said.Oprah Podcast“”I felt like Gwyneth with her friends. [Goop] “It’s built or framed around the promotion of women and women’s well-being… I don’t know why you feel the need to throw gas on the fire and get involved in all of this.”

“It seemed really hypocritical and unnecessary to me,” he added.

Paltrow appeared in a commercial for Astronomer, the company that employed Cabot until her relationship with then-married CEO Andy Byron became public at the fateful Coldplay concert.

Cabot also took issue with Reynolds’ role in the ad mocking the viral moment.

“I don’t want Ryan Reynolds off the hook either,” he said. “He produced and created the ad, and his wife went through something really similar last year.”

“I find it really surprising that he thinks this is a great way to lead,” Cabot added.

Winfrey said she called Paltrow to ask about the ad.

Winfrey explained that Paltrow gave permission to share this information, saying, “She said she was told that you signed that ad with Andy Byron, and she wouldn’t have done it if she hadn’t heard that you signed the ad.” he said.

“He passed that on to me,” Cabot replied.

Cabot acknowledged that the publicity added fuel to the fire.

“He did everything in that moment and made everything harder over the next days or weeks,” he said. “It’s made it a lot harder for my kids, too. I think when a celebrity gets involved like that… they’re teenagers, like I said, they know who it is. They know, and it just added to that unnecessarily. But people have their own needs and I can’t speculate on what those are.”

During her interview, Cabot described the harassment she suffered following the video of herself and her then-former boss. Astronomer CEO Andy ByronEnjoying a romantic moment at a Coldplay concert in 2025 went viral.

The band’s frontman Chris Martin and much of the internet assumed the two were caught in an affair, and the story spread quickly.

Despite global speculation about an illicit affair, Cabot maintained that she had already separated from her husband at the time and was aware of his “very close” business relationship with Byron.

He was repeatedly told the situation would end, but instead he said it derailed his career and life.

Cabot explained that the internet craze not only cost him a job, but also left his teenage children fearing for their lives in the face of death threats and social harassment. She told Winfrey that her children were worried they might lose her after overhearing a conversation about online death threats.

“They were so scared for me,” he explained.
