The state government has increased the commercial liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supply by 20% points as per the directive of the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, increasing the allocation to 50% of pre-crisis levels. The move is intended to ease availability for hotels, restaurants and food-related businesses.
Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Chhagan Bhujbal on Sunday, March 22, 2026, announced that commercial gas supply will be increased by 20% as per the directive of the Central government.
The Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas had issued a circular on March 21 stating that the state’s approved LPG allocation has been set at 30 per cent of pre-crisis levels. With the increase, which will be valid until new orders from March 23, the allocation will reach 50% of these levels.

Priority will be given to hotels in additional supply, dabasrestaurants, industrial canteens, food processing industries and the dairy sector. Subsidized canteens and community kitchens run by the state government or local self-government bodies, as well as schemes for migrant workers, will also be covered under the increased allocation.
Mr Bhujbal said the decision would provide relief to hotel and food service professionals facing shortage of commercial LPG. He added that operators seeking supply must register with oil marketing companies and apply for piped natural gas (PNG) connection.
Separate decisions regarding kerosene distribution were announced. Pending licenses will be automatically renewed without any fee. Licenses will be transferred to legal heirs through streamlined processes. In villages where there are no licensed retail kerosene dealers, Fair Price Store operators will be licensed as authorized kerosene dealers.
A government order issued on March 20 directed District Collectors to take necessary action.
