‘Finding your soulmate once in a lifetime is almost a miracle. Finding one twice is almost unimaginable. To love and be loved is a pearl beyond price, but such pearls come into the hands of the lucky more than once or twice,” Beaver wrote in a long post.

‘But when you find yourself paired with someone who not only loves and is loved, but who, by magic or the grace of the gods, understands you, wants to be who you are, wants you to be who you are, TAKES you and never needs you to defend who you are, and with whom you feel the same – how many of us can say that the spark of divinity has been lit upon us once, let alone twice? ‘I can do it.’

Beaver said he was deeply affected by the death of his child’s mother, Cecily, from cancer, and shared that he has now lost Fleming to the disease as well, saying losing his soulmate was devastating.

‘Carrie Anne Fleming took on the role of my wife on Supernatural during my fifth season on the show. I had a huge crush on him and I did it just seconds after meeting him. To my both joy and shock, I saw the same thing happen to him,’ the actor wrote.

‘We met cute’ in Hollywood parlance. As we sat on set before our first scene, saying hello and breaking the ice the way actors do when they’re first paired for a scene, Madeline Rose mentioned the name. I was surprised because that was my daughter’s name and Carrie had no reason to know that. Tentatively “Who is Madeline Rose?” I asked. “Oh, that’s my daughter,” he said. “I said, ‘Wait. This is MY girl.’

He said it was “the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”

‘The first day we ran lines of dialogue together in my trailer and talked for hours and the electricity between us was almost visible,’ he wrote.

Beaver described Fleming as ‘a powerhouse of vivacity, good will and an incredibly good-natured, exuberant laugh and an extremely likable personality that doesn’t seem to have an off switch.’ I was so in love I think my eyes turned silver. He seemed to think I was worth hanging out with, too.’

We shot ‘Supernatural’ in Canada, where he lives. I live in Southern California. The geographic and legal ramifications of these realities, especially regarding child custody, kept us separated both physically and marital; but we have corrected the first as best we could, and I am sure that we would have corrected the second at some point, if it had been possible.’

‘As it was, we loved each other as best we could. There were others for both of us but there was always the bond we started with. If some laws and maps were different, I’m not sure I could love anyone else.’

‘I lost Cecily to cancer in 2004. I lost Carrie to the same disease on Thursday. I never thought my heart could break this much more than once. But there is. But oh, the two torches I carry – what a bright, bright light they shed.’
