Ipswich Town ‘did not invite Nigel Farage to club for photo opp’

Ipswich Town FC faced backlash after Reform Party leader Nigel Farage offered a photo opportunity at the Portman Road stadium.

However, it appears the club was unaware of the full extent of the incident until social media posts emerged.

It is understood no formal invitation has been extended to Mr Farage by Ipswich for Monday’s event.

It is understood that Portman Road Events, which organizes private tours of the stadium, has taken reservations for Reform on Monday afternoon. However, the Championship club only became aware of the incident when posts appeared on the party’s official account that day.

Reform released “Portman Waits for the Road” on X on Monday evening, and Mr Farage followed up with a post on Tuesday morning.

He shared photos of himself signing for Ipswich and one of him holding the number 10 Ipswich jersey.

“I’ve never been too bad on the right wing,” he wrote on the official X account.

The party later posted a photo of Mr Farage holding the banner holding the T-shirt on its official X account.

The reform came after the party held a rally in nearby Trinity Park.

The club declined to comment.

However, some fans criticized X, with one describing it as “PR suicide for the family club”.
