10th Additional Sessions Court judge S. Uma Sunanda passed the verdict against Bommidi Veerababu (27), Koppanathi Venkateswarlu (26) and Malladi Tatarao (28), all from Sitaramapuram village in Allavaram mandal.

According to the police, the defendant attacked a 21-year-old woman after threatening her near Vodalarevu beach on April 25, 2021, and recorded this action on their mobile phone.

Based on the victim’s complaint, a case was registered under the SC/ST (Prevention of Cruelty) Act and relevant sections of rape. After the accusations were proven, the court convicted and sentenced the defendants.

413 vehicles seized in Vizag were handed over to their owners

Visakhapatnam city police returned 413 seized vehicles to their rightful owners in the fifth phase of the ‘Vehicle Return Mela’ on Tuesday.

The vehicles were seized in connection with law and order, crime and traffic cases. A total of 1,582 vehicles were returned during five melas held between February 2025 and March 2026, police said.

Police Commissioner Dr. Shanka Bratha Bagchi said the initiative helps people who often face difficulty in retrieving seized vehicles through court procedures.

Six people arrested in connection with double attack in Vizianagaram

Kothavalasa police in Vizianagaram district arrested six persons for allegedly attacking a couple on March 18.

Police said D. Sanyasi Naidu alias M. Ganesh, the adopted son of victims M. Challam Naidu and Appala Lakshmi, had a grudge over property disputes and hired five more people to clear them.

The couple was seriously injured in the attack. Following their complaint, the police launched an investigation into the incident and detained the suspect.
