BRS stages protest at Gun Park demanding BC Sub-Plan

HYDERABAD

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MPs staged a protest at Gun Park in front of the Assembly on Thursday, carrying banners and shouting slogans, demanding implementation of the Backward Classes (BC) Sub-Plan under the Congress party’s pre-poll BC Declaration in Kamareddy.

The party’s Deputy Floor Leaders in the Assembly, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and T. Harish Rao and others, accused the Congress party of deliberately cheating the BCs by making impossible promises of 42% reservation to them, especially in local bodies; They knew very well that this could only be possible by including improvement in the ninth schedule of the Constitution.

Mr. Srinivas Yadav reminded the ruling party that it had promised to spend at least Rs 20,000 crore in every budget for BC Sub-Plan, but had not allocated even half of this amount in the previous two budgets. In 2023-24, they had promised to spend ₹800 crore for the rest of this fiscal from the time they took over but had spent nothing.

In the second year, 2024-25, the government had allocated more than ₹11,000 crore but spent only ₹3,000 crore.
