Trump slams Britain’s ‘toy’ aircraft carrier and mocks UK offer ‘to send ships when the Iran war is over’: ‘I said… don’t bother’

Donald Trump today described Britain’s aircraft carriers as ‘toys compared to what we have’ in his latest attack on Britain’s lack of support for its war against Iran.

In a further sign that the deep freeze is eating away at the transatlantic ‘special relationship’, the president lashed out at the Royal Navy’s capabilities in a rant against US NATO allies.

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Thursday, the US President said: ‘The British said ‘we will send our aircraft carriers’, which are not the best aircraft carriers that can be considered toys compared to what we have, ‘we will send our aircraft carriers when the war is over’. I said, ‘That’s great, thank you very much, don’t bother.’

Trump later added: ‘We don’t need this. And we don’t need them.’

The president’s remarks came after Downing Street rejected Trump’s previous claims that he had proposed sending HMS Queen Elizabeth or the fleet flagship HMS Prince of Wales to the Middle East.

Sir Keir is increasingly reluctant to allow Britain to be dragged into conflict that has led to a rise in energy prices.

But it comes at a time when the Royal Navy’s ability to wage war and defend Britain is increasingly in doubt. to ask Germany The use of a warship to fulfill a major NATO commitment.

Berlin deployed the frigate Sachsen, manned by British officers, as the flagship of the alliance maritime task group, replacing HMS Dragon, which was sent to defend Cyprus against Iranian attacks.

Defense Secretary John Healey this morning could not say how many of the Royal Navy’s surface fleet of 17 frigates and destroyers were combat-ready when the state of the service was discussed.

Trump also said that Iran’s attack on the Diego Garcia military base last week showed the capabilities Iran has.

He said: ‘They shot at the now famous island that England was afraid to give us because they didn’t want to be dragged into it, and we don’t want to be dragged into their wars.

‘One of the things we are very disappointed in is NATO because NATO has done absolutely nothing.’

As the conflict approached a month, Trump continued his attacks on social media against NATO for not helping the US and Israel’s attacks on Iran.

Writing in a post on Truth Social this morning, the president said: ‘NATO countries have done absolutely nothing to help the mad nation of Iran, which is now militarily destroyed.

‘The United States does not need anything from NATO, but never forget this very important point,’ he added.

The US President’s remarks about NATO and Britain came after Sir Keir said he was ‘no Winston Churchill’ and took umbrage at the Prime Minister’s reluctance to allow America to use British bases to launch an attack on Tehran.

Last week the UK gave the green light to American forces to conduct ‘defensive’ operations from their own military areas such as Diego Garcia.

Sir Keir has extended this into action, aiming to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz amid growing panic over oil supplies being cut.

However, the Prime Minister assured Cyprus that RAF Akrotiri would not be used in attacks.

Would you trust the current UK leadership to deal with this situation?

It comes as Sir Keir again refused to say when he would announce the much-delayed plan to increase spending on the UK Armed Forces, despite warning of the threat Russia poses to world peace.

Shadow defense secretary James Cartlidge told the Mail the situation was ‘completely in shambles’.

This also came as Trump threatened Iran with devastating attacks if it did not accept the White House’s 15-point peace plan, possibly through indirect talks mediated by Pakistan.

Pakistan’s top diplomat confirmed that these negotiations are continuing as military activities continue to increase.

Iran refuses to participate in any negotiations despite efforts by Egypt and other countries to help, and has consolidated its control over the vital Strait of Hormuz by using it as a pressure point for the world economy.

Meanwhile, Israel says it will launch more attacks.

The US President has previously said Sir Keir Starmer is 'no Winston Churchill', while angering the Prime Minister's reluctance to allow America to use British bases to launch an attack on Tehran.

In an online post, Trump insisted Tehran was ‘begging’ for a deal and warned that military tensions would escalate further if a deal was not reached.

‘They better get serious soon before it’s too late, because once this happens there is NO GOING BACK and it won’t be pretty!’ He wrote at Truth Social.

Since launching war with Israel on Feb. 28, Trump has vacillated between different stated goals, including overthrowing the Islamic Republic, dismantling its controversial nuclear program and weakening its missile capabilities.

It is now focused on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of the world’s oil trade passed before Iran effectively seized control of the waterway in response to a surprise US-Israeli bombardment.

Israel says it still hopes to incite an uprising against Iranian leaders.

Pakistan’s top diplomat Ishaq Dar acknowledged Pakistan’s role publicly for the first time, saying indirect talks between the US and Iran were still ongoing.

Pakistan, which shares a border with Iran, wants to restore regional stability and stop the impact of the war on energy prices. By stepping in as a mediator, he positions himself as a useful US partner.

He also joined Trump’s Peace Board, an initiative born out of the Gaza ceasefire.

Iran has its own five-point proposal that includes reparations and recognition of sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, Press TV, the English-language broadcaster of Iranian state television, said.
