PM Modi to hold virtual meet with non poll bound CMs over West Asia conflict preparedness

Senior Union ministers including defense minister Rajnath Singh, home minister Amit Shah, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, external affairs minister S Jaishankar and senior government officials including Cabinet Secretary, external affairs minister, home minister, petroleum minister and secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs are expected to attend. The aim is to ensure coordinated action in the spirit of ‘Team India’, sources said.
This will be the first time the Prime Minister will hold a meeting with prime ministers on the West Asian conflict, which began on February 28 following US-Israeli attacks on Iran. Tehran has since retaliated by targeting Israel and parts of the Gulf region, raising concerns of wider instability.
Chief ministers of poll-bound states will not be able to attend the meeting due to the model code of conduct.
The Cabinet Secretariat will hold a separate meeting with the chief secretaries of poll-bound Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, Kerala and Puducherry.
