Man jailed for sexually assaulting teenage girl at London private members’ club

A young man has been jailed for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl after pressuring her to drink alcohol at a private members-only club in London.

The court heard Alexander Fredericks, now 21, offered wine and vodka to a 17-year-old girl and then took photos of her topless under the guise of a fake modeling shoot.

Fredericks was jailed for four years and three months at Isleworth Crown Court on Thursday after admitting multiple sexual offenses against two teenage girls.

The court heard the first victim, then 15, began receiving messages from Fredericks in January 2022, which he found increasingly “strange”.

Prosecutors described how Fredericks, then 17, insisted on picking her up from school and traveled with her on the subway, kissing her against her will.

That year, he sexually assaulted her in a “secluded part” of the Hurlingham Club in Fulham, south-west London, where he was a member. Prosecutor Meeno Chawla said he pressured her to drink alcohol and threatened to kill her when she tried to escape.

Despite the girl blocking him, Fredericks indirectly contacted her in August 2022, asking for nude photos and offering a welcome fee as well as payment of up to £900.

She later met him again at the Hurlingham Club after he threatened suicide if she did not attend. There he once again pressured her to drink, touched her belly and tried to kiss her, causing her to run away.

Ms Chawla told the court that Fredericks contacted her again following his arrest in October 2022, falsely claiming police took no further action and threatening to sue her if she did not corroborate his version of events.

In a victim impact statement read out on Thursday, the girl said she suffered “anxiety”, “embarrassment”, “loss of confidence” and felt “less of a person” because of her actions.

In September 2022, Fredericks, then 18, messaged a 17-year-old girl on Snapchat, inviting her to a modeling shoot and falsely claiming to be from Teen Vogue.

After receiving the documents with the logo, the girl, believing that the approach was legitimate, met him at a hotel. He offered her wine as support but she pressured him to drink it and later drank vodka.

The court heard the woman agreed to be photographed topless after getting drunk, at which point the man began masturbating.

The second victim told the court on Thursday he was left with a “constant fear” that “deflated” his self-confidence.

Sentencing Fredericks, Judge Adenike Balogun said: “These were serious offenses involving sexual abuse and psychological domination of a vulnerable person, which had devastating and long-lasting consequences for both victims.”

Fredericks pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault, one count of assault by penetration and one count of witness intimidation in relation to the 15-year-old. He also admitted taking indecent photographs of children on two occasions and causing a person to engage in non-consensual sexual activity on the other victim.

A 10-year restraining order was issued banning Fredericks from contacting both victims. The court was informed that he had two previous convictions for offences, including disclosing or threatening to disclose intimate sexual photographs/films with intent to cause distress, sexual assault and blackmail.

Kate Chidgey, defending, said she was “absolutely horrified” by Fredericks’ actions and expressed remorse for what happened.
