Jupiter Island, Florida: Tiger Woods was arrested on drunken driving charges after his Range Rover allegedly crashed into a vehicle before flipping over near his Florida home, according to police.
Footage has emerged showing the aftermath of the crash: the golfer’s car lies sideways in the middle of the road, while Woods speaks on the phone a short distance away.
According to TMZ, Woods climbed out of the passenger window of his Range Rover after the accident.
Woods allegedly sped down the street before hitting a car and rolling it over.
Sheriff John Budensiek said at a news conference that he believed Woods was under the influence of drugs, not alcohol.
He was found to show signs of disability and refused to submit to a urine test in prison. No trace of alcohol was detected in the breathalyzer test; researchers believed the disorder was drug or medication-related.
The crash happened just after 2 p.m. Friday (Florida time) on Jupiter Island, not far from where Woods lives.
Woods’ manager at Excel Sports did not immediately respond to a text message seeking information.
This was at least the third time Woods was involved in a car accident; most recently in February 2021, when his SUV went off a beach road in Los Angeles at a high rate of speed, causing multiple leg and ankle injuries. Doctors later considered amputation, Woods said.
Later Friday, President Donald Trump was asked about the crash and said he felt “very bad.”
“I feel so bad… There was an accident and that’s all I know. He’s a very close friend of mine; a great person, a great guy.”
