Assam Polls: Amit Shah holds mega Guwahati roadshow

The promotional tour started at Arya Vidyapeeth College ground and passed through important areas of the city and ended near Nepal Mandir.
Shah attended a party meeting at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan, the state headquarters of the BJP.
He will also address two Vijay Sankalp Samaroh programs at Dhekiajuli and Tihu on Sunday.
The BJP expelled nine leaders who competed against officially nominated party candidates for six years. The expelled leaders include Uddhav Das (Barpeta, Jayanta Kumar Das (Dispur), Jitendra Singh Gour (Kaliabor), Amalendu Das (Barkhola), Dhanjit Rabha (Goalpara West), Chakradhar Das (Bongaigaon), Gagan Chandra Haloi (Barpeta), Ankur Das (Kamalpur) and Yashoda Dulal (Shyamal) Rakshit (Lumding).
In a letter dated March 27, State BJP president Dilip Saikia said the action was taken as per the provisions of the party constitution. “For the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party has expelled the following party workers with immediate effect for six years for contesting against officially nominated party candidates. The action has been taken under Article XXV-9 of the party constitution,” the letter said.
Six party workers were also expelled from the party’s primary membership for supporting or assisting candidates contesting against BJP candidates as per the instructions of the State leadership. The disciplinary action comes at a crucial juncture with voting for the Assam Assembly elections scheduled to be held on April 9 and counting of votes set for May 4 as parties intensify their campaign efforts across the state.
