Nedlands two-storey house destroyed in fire started by electrical issue involving small fridge

A two-storey house went up in flames in Perth’s western suburbs.

Residents of the house in Nedlands escaped unhurt but could only watch as firefighters used combined ladders to extinguish flames that had spread to the roof of the building.

The fire was caused by an electrical fault caused by a small refrigerator in the garage just before 9 p.m.

It quickly engulfed the entire house at the intersection of Vincent Street and Jenkins Boulevard.

A section of Vincent Street remained closed as firefighters battled the flames into the early hours of Sunday morning.

The street was later reopened.
