Who won yesterday’s IPL match: RCB beat SRH by 6 wickets after chasing 202 in style

Royal Challengers Bengaluru started their IPL 2026 campaign on a high by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Chasing a target of 202, RCB comfortably reached 203/4 in just 15.4 overs.

SRH Stumbled Early Despite Moderate Challenge

RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and chose to bowl first. Making his New Zealand debut, Jacob Duffy made an immediate impact by dismantling SRH’s top order. Abhishek Sharma removed Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy and left SRH struggling at 29/3 in the powerplay.

Leading from the front, Ishan Kishan consolidated the innings with 80 from 38 balls, hitting 8 fours and 5 sixes. He brought together an important partnership of 97 years with Heinrich Klaasen (31). Aniket Verma then gained momentum in the final over, hitting a quick 43 off 18 deliveries, helping SRH post a competitive total of 201/9.

RCB’s Explosive Chase led by Kohli and Padikkal

RCB started the chase with an attack. Phil Salt departed early, but Devdutt Padikkal produced a superb counter-attack of 61 off just 26 balls. He shared a 101-run stand for the second wicket with Virat Kohli in just 45 deliveries.

After Padikkal was dismissed in the ninth over, RCB needed 92 runs from 68 balls, a manageable target. Skipper Rajat Patidar then played a quick role with 31 off 12 balls.

Kohli Finishes in Style

Virat Kohli displayed his trademark composure and took the team home, remaining unbeaten on 69 off 38 balls. RCB secured a comfortable victory as Tim David scored a quick 16 off 10 balls.
