Nestle issue KitKat supply update after more than twelve tons stolen in major heist

Nestle has issued a KitKat supply update after more than twelve tonnes were stolen in the massive heist.
The Swiss food giant said on Saturday that a truck carrying 413,793 bars of its new KitKat range set out from central Italy to distribute the chocolate across Europe, but never reached its planned final destination in Poland.
Vehicles and goods are still unreachable. Nestle did not say exactly where the truck disappeared.
In a separate statement released Saturday, KitKat said the missing bars could be tracked with a unique batch code. Anyone who scans the batch numbers of the stolen chocolate will receive instructions on how to contact KitKat.

In a further update on Sunday, a Nestle spokesperson said: “We can confirm that 12 tonnes of KitKat products were stolen during transport between our factory in central Italy and its destination in Poland.
“We are working closely with local authorities and supply chain partners to investigate.
“The good news: There are no concerns for customer safety and supply has not been affected.”
Last year, Nestle announced plans to cut nearly 16,000 jobs worldwide by turning to automation to help cut costs.
The consumer goods giant’s boss said it needed to “change faster” and secure its future “as a leader in our industry”.
Nestle, which also produces home food brands such as Nescafe and Cheerios, has approximately 277,000 employees in countries around the world.
Philipp Navratil, CEO of Nestle at the time, said: “The world is changing and Nestle needs to change faster.
“This will include making difficult but necessary decisions to reduce staff numbers over the next two years. We will do this with respect and transparency.”
