Teens accessed ‘extremist material’, ballistic vest seized: police

Following a terrorism investigation into a small rural fight, two teenagers were charged and a ballistic-style vest and extremist literature were seized.
NSW Police raided a home in Moree, about 120km south of the Queensland border, in late March following allegations a teenager had accessed extremist material online in December.
A 15-year-old boy was charged following the seizure of a cell phone, a ballistic-style vest and several notebooks.
The items were later analyzed by police and the matter was referred to the NSW Joint Counter Terrorism Squad, which carried out further raids on two homes in Moree on Thursday.
Police allegedly located and seized numerous handwritten notes and pieces of literature allegedly containing extremist references during the operation.
The same 15-year-old boy was arrested at 10am and taken to Moree police station.
He has since been charged with using a transport service to transmit violent extremist material and knowingly collecting or preparing a document linked to terrorism.
Later that morning, a 16-year-old boy was also arrested.
He was charged with using a transport service to possess violent extremist material.
Both teenagers were denied requests to appear in Parramatta children’s court on Friday.
