Met Office names UK area facing 20cm snow barrage in new Easter weekend forecast | Weather | News

The Met Office has revealed which parts of the country could see 20cm of snow this Easter weekend as weather warnings continue. Up to 10-20cm of snow may occur in the higher elevations of northern Scotland; which can “cause disruption” and cause hazards under unstable conditions.

The weather agency said: “Strong winds as well as heavy snowfall are likely to cause disruption in northern Scotland, with accumulations of 5-10cm at elevations above 200m. Some areas may see 10-20cm, and strong wind blizzards and drifting snow will pose an additional danger.”

Deputy Chief Forecaster Tom Crabtree added: “As well as strong winds, Storm Dave will also bring heavy snowfall to the hills in northern Scotland where up to 10-20cm of snow could accumulate.

“With Storm Dave just days away, people should prepare their properties for strong winds and monitor the latest weather forecasts as weather alerts are likely to be updated.”

A yellow snow warning is in place for seven parts of Scotland from 3pm on April 4 until 3am on April 5, impacting anyone hoping for sunshine this Bank Holiday weekend.

The Met Office said: “There is a possibility of rail and air travel being delayed or canceled as well as travel delays on the roads with some vehicles and passengers stranded.
